CS Canada Contributes to the SCADE KCG™ Acceptance, by Transport Canada
CS Canada is pleased to announce that Transport Canada has accepted the use of SCADE KCG™ the auto-code generator from Esterel Technologies.
This acceptance occurred within the framework of the Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PW535B Certification Program, and resulted from CS Canada’s efforts. Accepted on many European programs for many years, KCG is used extensively on Airbus related programs to shorten system software development and DO-178B certification time and costs. CS Canada generated with SCADE KCG the C code of the PW535B engine program.
Users can use a model based design technique to draft the system control laws using the graphical SCADE Editor™ tool. This is a very cost effective way of designing Application Software code from system control laws.
CS Canada is now in a good position to facilitate the use of the tool for future customer programs. Once accepted on a particular program, the use of the SCADE KCG tool suite relieves the requirements of doing low level testing. It brings enhanced benefits in cases of Code modification due to repetitive specification updates following system bench and flight tests.
The same technique can be used to design any airborne system application software. Thanks to the bi-lateral agreement, the acceptance achieved with Transport Canada can be invoked with the FAA.
This is the first time an auto-code generator is accepted by an authority in North-America., Louis Desjardins, CS Communication & Systems Canada, Inc
