Esterel Technologies Inc. Names New VP Sales and Operations

Ed Marut selected to head US operations and SCADE sales

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and ELANCOURT, France — January 1, 2006

Esterel Technologies, a leading worldwide supplier of model-based design, validation, and code generation tools for safety-critical embedded software applications, announced the selection of Ed Marut as Vice-President US SCADE Sales (Safety Critical Application Development Environment) for Esterel Technologies, Inc. and Vice-President of US Operations.

We are very pleased to have Ed join Esterel Technologies management team, said Esterel Technologies CEO, Eric Bantégnie. Bantégnie continued, Ed is an experienced Sales, Services and Operations Executive with more than 20 years experience with embedded and real-time technology organizations including Concurrent Computer Corporation, Dow Jones Telerate and Wind River Systems. Ed's experience working with real-time, embedded, safety and mission-critical applications and systems, including those that must adhere to strict standards such as IEC 61508 and the civilian avionics guideline DO-178B, are particularly important in supporting our US SCADE tool sales.

I am joining a team of very talented individuals that are on the threshold of a significant paradigm shift within software design processes and safety critical application development. With the increasing complexity of safety critical systems model based development, qualifiable code generation, and a well designed "Combined Testing Process," to eliminate errors that can creep into designs early in the design phase, not only increase quality and productivity but insure the safety of the things that touch our lives daily from critical systems in planes, trains and automobiles to power generation, defense and space systems.

Most recently, Mr. Marut was the Eastern Region Services Sales Manager at Wind River Systems. Mr. Marut's position at Esterel Technologies will include VP US operations for Esterel Technologies Inc., the US arm of Esterel Technologies, and VP US sales of SCADE. Mr. Marut will be responsible to grow the sales of SCADE, the Esterel Technologies tool used by developers to create critical embedded software applications such as those for automated pilots, safety restraints and engine controls.
