Esterel Technologies Inc. Names New CEO

Chip Downing selected to head US operations and worldwide SCADE sales

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and ELANCOURT, France (July 30, 2004)

Esterel Technologies, a world leader supplying solutions that fully automate correct-by-construction automated implementation of HDL or software generated from formal specifications, today announced the selection of Chip Downing as Chief Executive Officer for Esterel Technologies, Inc. and Vice-President of Embedded Market Operations.

Most recently Vice President of Business Development at Validated Software Corporation, Mr. Downings responsibilities will include Chief Executive Officer for Esterel Technologies Inc., the US arm of Esterel Technologies, and head of worldwide sales of SCADE (Safety Critical Application Development Environment), the Esterel Technologies tool used by developers to create critical embedded software applications such as those for automated pilots, safety restraints and engine controls.
