#Esterel Technologies and TTTech Cooperate on Tool Integration
TTP-SCADElink As All-in-One Solution for Distributed Safety-Critical Embedded Systems
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California - December 13, 2004
Esterel Technologies, the major supplier of correct-by-construction development tools and services, and TTTech, the leading supplier in the field of time-triggered systems, announce TTP-SCADElink, a system that integrates Esterel Technologies' SCADE SuiteTM with TTTech's TTP-Tools. TTPSCADElink provides developers with a comprehensive toolchain for distributed safety-critical embedded systems. The system extends from modeling to code generation, and includes communication scheduling, monitoring, and calibration, as well as formal verification. TTPSCADElink combines the leading-edge solutions for safety-critical system development into one powerful tool environment.
SCADE Suite and TTP-Tools are both proven technologies for building safety-critical embedded software. They are based on the same time-triggered approach, with TTP-Tools providing the communication infrastructure and SCADE Suite providing the application components. A prototype of the integrated system was developed within the European Union IST research program RISE (Reliable Innovative Software for Embedded Systems). TTP-SCADElink represents a uniquely powerful breakthrough solution for Time-Triggered Architecture (TTA).
"From the powerful combination of Esterel Technologies' SCADE and TTTech's tools we expect significant improvements in the development, testing, and integration of distributed embedded software applications," said Markus Buhlmann, Project Manager of Time-Triggered Architecture at Audi.
TTP-SCADElink enables developers to specify behavior and timing constraints, map tasks onto distributed hardware, and generate all the code needed to build communicating executables within the same environment. SCADE's qualifiable code generator guarantees that the code generated from the model is correct with respect to its specification. This significantly reduces the testing effort at the source level, and replaces it with less costly evaluation of the software model. In addition, safetycritical applications benefit from utilizing TTP-OS and the AS8202NF, a certifiable TTP communication controller from austriamicrosystems. TTP-OS is an OSEK time-based operating system that is developed according to RTCA standard DO-178B Level A.
Simulation and formal verification of the system can be performed for each individual task and for the global model, thanks to the same underlying paradigm for TTP-Tools and SCADE Suite. Since both the application tasks and the communication infrastructure are time-triggered, with complete determinism, a global system model can be represented and formally verified. With this approach, safety requirements are satisfied, and application software development, integration and maintenance costs are reduced.
About Esterel Technologies
Esterel Technologies products solve the problems of high-reliability embedded design. They support creation, validation, and verification with complete tool suites supported by the power of abstraction and synchronous languages. Esterel Technologies tools create unambiguous specifications that produce correct-by-construction software designs and hardware designs that can be implemented, automatically. SCADE SuiteTM is the de-facto standard for the creation of safety-critical embedded software in the civilian avionics industry. SCADE DriveTM is the emerging standard for the creation of safety-critical embedded software in the automotive industry. Esterel StudioTM allows embedded hardware designers to create a golden specification model that can be implemented automatically in VHDL, Verilog, C, and C++.
Esterel Technologies is a privately held company with headquarters in Mountain View, California, USA, and Elancourt, France. Esterel also maintains offices in Germany, the United Kingdom, and China.
